Leadership Program
Calling aspiring esports leaders!
The EsportsAble Leadership Development Program builds student capability to lead inclusive and safe esports environments in high schools. It uses a structured sequence of workshops delivered across a school term. Each session runs for 50 to 60 minutes and targets a small cohort of around 10 to 12 students to support active participation and skill development.
The program focuses on three core outcomes. First, it builds a shared understanding of respect, inclusion, and safety in esports settings. Second, it embeds these values into the planning and delivery of school-based esports events. Third, it supports students to take active leadership roles and shape positive team cultures.
The learning structure follows a practical, event-based progression. Students begin by defining the purpose and value of an esports event, identifying the target audience, and outlining key activities. They then assess available resources and identify gaps in support. Early sessions also introduce team roles, helping students align individual strengths with event responsibilities.
Mid-program sessions shift to applied skills. Students design promotional materials, recruit participants, and build capability in specific team roles. They practice these roles through simulated event delivery, testing formats and refining coordination. This hands-on approach strengthens leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
The program concludes with reflection and future planning. Students capture lessons learned, identify opportunities for improvement, and explore esports-related career pathways. Participants who complete the program receive an official certificate of achievement from QUT, which recognises their leadership development and contribution to positive esports initiatives.
Overall, the program integrates leadership development with real event delivery. It links values with action and builds sustained student ownership of positive esports experiences.
