Co-Designing the Future of Esports in Mount Isa
Community Comes Together to Create a Tailored Program for Local Youth
On 6 May 2025, the EsportsAble team proudly hosted a Co-Design Workshop at Country Universities Centre (CUC) Mount Isa, bringing together voices from across the community to help shape a local, youth-driven esports program tailored specifically for Mount Isa.
The workshop was a dynamic and collaborative session, with valuable contributions from local schools, parents and carers, Mount Isa City Council, headspace Mount Isa, Community Universities Centre and Queensland Disability Network. We also spoke with Mount Isa Library, Officer in Charge PCYC, 54 Reasons and representatives from the Youth Justice Program.
Together, we explored what esports could look like for Mount Isa—not just as competition, but as a platform to build digital skills, connection, confidence, and pathways into future careers.

✅ Culturally relevant and community-owned
✅ Connected to digital education and real-world opportunities
🚀 What’s Next?
The ideas and goals shaped in this co-design session will guide how we roll out the Mount Isa Regional Tournament—including Academy training, wellbeing support, and opportunities for young people to get involved in production, casting, competition, and more.
🙌 Thank you to the Mount Isa Community for the wonderful welcome and we will see you soon for the Mount Isa EsportsAble Regional Tournament.
