TECHNOLOGY USE POLICY

Engaging with QUT's EsportsAble program offers an exciting opportunity to connect and grow within the esports community. To ensure a positive and secure experience, it's important to understand and adhere to QUT's guidelines for using Information and Communications Technology (ICT) resources.

Accessing the EsportsAble Academy Website and Circle Community Site

When you log into the EsportsAble Academy website or the Circle Community platform, you're expected to use these resources responsibly. This means not sharing your login details with anyone else and ensuring that any content you post is respectful and appropriate. Avoid sharing or accessing material that could be considered offensive or illegal, as this goes against QUT's policies and can lead to serious consequences.

Using Equipment During Tournaments

Participating in esports tournaments involves using QUT's gaming equipment and networks. It's crucial to handle all equipment with care and use it only for its intended purpose. Engaging in activities that could harm the equipment or disrupt the network, like attempting to hack the system or introducing viruses, is strictly prohibited. Such actions not only affect your experience but also that of your peers and can result in disciplinary measures.

General Expectations

While it's understandable to occasionally use QUT's ICT resources for personal reasons, such use should be minimal and must not interfere with your participation in EsportsAble activities or the availability of resources for others. Always be mindful of how your actions online reflect on you and the EsportsAble community. By following these guidelines, you contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for everyone involved.

QUT ACCEPTABLE USE OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY RESOURCES POLICY

QUT provides information and communications technology (ICT) resources to support its functions and activities and is committed to ensuring that these resources are used in a transparent and accountable manner. All members of the University community have a responsibility to use its ICT resources consistent with this commitment. Unacceptable use of the University's ICT resources may:

  1. be detrimental to other students, staff and workplace culture;

  2. undermine the University's reputation;

  3. be unlawful or illegal;

  4. expose the University to vicarious liability for a person's actions;

  5. have a negative effect on productivity;

  6. be detrimental or pose a security threat to the University's systems.

This Policy sets out the University's behavioural expectations for the use of its ICT resources. The use of all ICT resources is monitored and any unacceptable use will be investigated. This Policy applies to any member of the University community utilising QUT's ICT resources, services and/or facilities both on and off campus, including:

  1. Students;

  2. Staff, whether full-time, part-time, ongoing, fixed-term, casual or sessional;

  3. Individuals associated with QUT including:

    2. consultants and independent contractors undertaking services for QUT;

    3. members of QUT Council or other University committees whether they hold office by election, nomination or appointment;
